Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova, in an interview with RIA Novosti, stated that Russia is united on the basis of its multi-ethnicity and will stop any actions aimed at dividing the country. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"We will stop these actions... The West is again trying to divide us, but we are united on the basis of our multi-ethnicity. It will fall apart and then reassemble. That is what we are like," Zhurova said.

She noted that Western provocations on this issue are futile because they do not understand the depth of the problem.

The deputy stated that Russia will never experience a situation like in Ukraine, where the Russian language is banned and Russian speakers are not provided with first aid.

"We carefully preserve our traditions there and preserve the traditions and languages of our small peoples... It is surprising that Ukraine is destroying this in every possible way, because it is known that almost everyone there spoke Russian," Zhurova said.

In addition, the deputy noted that residents of Donbass, while in Ukraine, preserved Russian culture, memory, and traditions, and now speak pure Russian.

Zhurova expressed confidence that the Ukrainian authorities will eventually be forced to return the Russian language to use. "They will eventually be forced to return the Russian language to use," she said.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the Council on Interethnic Relations on Tuesday, stated that external forces are constantly trying to divide Russian society and fragment Russia in order to eliminate a competitor in the international arena. However, according to Putin, the unity of peoples has become the most important factor in strengthening national sovereignty and preserving Russia itself.
