The Ministry of Internal Affairs has drafted amendments to the rules for taking exams for vehicle registration and obtaining driving licences. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Retake procedure
In the future, if the first exam is failed, it will be possible to retake it on the next working day. If the second attempt also fails, 10 days are given for preparation.
If a theoretical or practical exam is not passed three times, subsequent retakes of that exam will be paid. This measure is being introduced to allow additional preparation for the exam.
Theory result is retained
According to Aktoты Boranova, deputy head of the department of the Administrative Police Committee, if you pass the theoretical exam but fail the practical one, your theory result is retained.
Replacing foreign licences
To exchange a foreign driving licence for a Kazakhstani one, you must first pass the theoretical exam. In addition, the traffic police send an official request to the country that issued the licence. The licence will be exchanged only after the competent authority of that country confirms the document is genuine.
Change in vehicle registration
Under the change concerning vehicle registration, after a vehicle is re-equipped, it will not need to be inspected separately. A document confirming the safety of the re-equipment is sufficient.
