The National Social Democratic Party (NSDP) has proposed paying compensation to drivers who have suffered losses due to poor-quality petrol. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Statement by the faction head
At today's meeting of the party's congress, faction head Askhat Rakhymzhanov said complaints about poor-quality petrol have been increasing.
"Drivers are suffering losses. Because of poor-quality petrol, they have to spend 200,000 to 600,000 tenge on car repairs. Today, state bodies have also established that fuel failing to meet requirements was sold in several regions. For example, poor-quality AI-100 petrol was sold in Almaty. And in the Kyzylorda region, AI-92 petrol was poured into cars under the AI-95 brand," the MP said.
Calls to tighten control
In this regard, NSDP MPs demanded that the state tighten control over the quality of petroleum products. They also said every batch of petrol should be accompanied by a QR code. Drivers would then be able to scan it and see where the petrol came from and the results of laboratory testing.
Compensation mechanism
"Then it is necessary to create a concrete mechanism for protecting citizens who have suffered from poor-quality petrol. They should be provided with compensation for vehicle diagnostics and repair costs. Afterwards, it can be recovered from those responsible," Rakhymzhanov said.
The faction also proposed establishing liability along the entire petrol supply chain.
