The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained changes to traffic rules. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Legislative amendments come into force on August 25. Ministry specialists remind that first of all, drivers over 65 and disabled drivers must undergo a mandatory medical examination every two years. Information about passing the medical examination is automatically sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. If information about the examination is not received, the right to drive a vehicle will be suspended. This requirement applies only to drivers over 65 and disabled drivers.
Another change concerns re-examination of knowledge of traffic rules. According to it, drivers who grossly violate traffic rules will be sent for a repeat theoretical exam. Main reasons: creating an emergency situation when crossing intersections; repeated exceeding of the set speed; maneuvering; dangerous violation of lane changing or overtaking rules. According to specialists, if a driver without a valid reason fails to appear for the theoretical exam within two months from the date of receiving the relevant decision, this will also be grounds for suspending the right to drive a vehicle.
In addition, liability for driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or toxic substances has been strengthened. From now on, even if the criminal case is terminated due to reconciliation with the victim, the offender is deprived of the right to drive a vehicle for eight years. And if the driver does not have a license, it will be impossible to obtain one for eight years.
