In Kazakhstan, 91% of road accidents are linked to gross violations of traffic rules, the Ministry of Transport reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The percentage breakdown of violations is as follows: - speeding – 33%; - loss of vehicle control – 14%; - failure to maintain distance – 13%; - ignoring road sign requirements – 10%.

Additionally, in the first half of 2026, the number of road accidents on republican highways decreased. The number of road traffic accidents dropped by 9%, from 1,507 to 1,371 cases.

This dynamic was achieved against the backdrop of a significant increase in traffic load – over six months, traffic intensity grew by 37%, reaching 22.3 million vehicles. According to the ministry, the reduction in accidents was facilitated by the introduction of an average speed control system on toll road sections with a total length of 2.3 thousand km.
