In the Panfilov district of the Zhetysu region, heavy rains damaged a section of the republican highway 'Saryozek – Koktal' at the 152nd kilometer. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to KazAvtoZhol, the mudflow washed away part of the roadside and roadbed, causing part of the right lane to collapse and damaging the road surface.
For safety, the damaged section is fenced off and temporary road signs have been installed. The road is not completely closed; traffic is maintained in reverse mode on the remaining lane.
Patrol police are on duty at the scene. Emergency repair work is ongoing.
18 workers and 13 pieces of special equipment have been involved in eliminating the consequences of the natural disaster.
