A 22-year-old man has been detained in Zhetysu region on suspicion of blackmailing a minor girl he met on TikTok and selling her intimate videos for money. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the police department of Zhetysu region, a 22-year-old resident of Alakol district was detained on suspicion of trafficking prohibited content. The crime was uncovered by officers of the Cybercrime Prevention Department together with a specialized unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives of the youth movement "Zhana adamdar".

According to the investigation, the suspect met the minor girl on TikTok and then moved the conversation to a messenger. Investigators believe that, having gained her trust, the man used psychological pressure, threats, and a promise to pay 20,000 tenge to obtain intimate materials from her.

Later, according to the investigation, he sold these videos through closed channels in one of the messengers for money.

"The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility. Necessary investigative actions are being carried out. His possible involvement in similar crimes is also being checked," the police department reported.

The department reminded parents to monitor their children's safety online and regularly explain the rules of communication on social networks.
