A deadly accident occurred in the Sarkand district of the Zhetysu region on the Almaty–Oskemen highway. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Horrifying footage from the scene was published by the Instagram account krisp.tdk.
According to police, two cars collided on the highway. The crash killed five people at the scene — both drivers and three passengers of a Toyota Camry 55. Two other people were injured and hospitalized.
"A criminal case has been opened regarding the traffic accident. A pre-trial investigation is underway to establish all circumstances and causes of the incident," the police department of the Zhetysu region reported.
Law enforcement officers once again urged drivers to follow traffic rules, choose a safe speed, maintain distance, and be as attentive as possible behind the wheel.
Earlier, Kursiv reported a fatal accident on the Almaty–Shelek–Khorgos highway that killed three people.
Yesterday, businessman Alexander Pak, found guilty of causing the deaths of three people in a road accident in Almaty, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
