In the Zhetysu region, some sections of the republican road "Saryozek – Koktal" were damaged due to mudflow. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to information distributed by the national company "KazAvtoZhol", on August 24-25 there was heavy rainfall in Panfilov district. Due to the mountainous terrain, the water flow intensified and damaged certain sections of the road.
"Mud-stone flows crossed the roadway, in some places washed out the roadsides and the roadbed, and also damaged fencing elements. Mud and stones accumulated near small bridges and culverts, and some drainage ditches could not fully pass the incoming volume of water," company specialists say.
Currently, the flow of water from the mountain slopes has stopped. There is no data on water overflow on the roadway, and the water level has decreased. Road services have already begun work to eliminate the consequences of precipitation.
The roadway, roadsides, drainage ditches, small bridges and culverts will be cleared of mud and stones. Also, work will be carried out to strengthen the washed-out roadbed and roadsides, restore the drainage system and repair damaged fencing elements.
