Artificial intelligence could become part of the training of Kazakh athletes in the coming years. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov discussed the prospects of AI implementation with the CEO of Chinese company 01.AI, Chairman of Sinovation Ventures, Professor Li Kai-Fu.
According to the ministry's press service, one of the main topics of the meeting was the creation of a unified digital platform e-Sport, which will combine data on athletes, coaches, referees, sports organizations and competitions.
In the future, the system is planned to be supplemented with solutions based on artificial intelligence. They will be able to analyze the training process, help in the recovery of athletes, provide recommendations on nutrition and injury prevention, as well as evaluate technique and tactics from video recordings of training and competitions.
"The development of artificial intelligence is one of the strategic priorities of Kazakhstan, and the digitalization of sports and tourism opens up new opportunities to increase the efficiency of industries," Myrzabosynov noted.
Separately, the parties discussed the use of AI in the tourism sector. The ministry is working on creating a unified digital platform that will combine information about tourist sites, routes, hotels, national parks and tourist flows.
The next step will be the launch of an intelligent digital assistant for travelers. It is expected to be able to create personalized routes, communicate with tourists in several languages and accompany them throughout the trip.
Li Kai-Fu highly appreciated Kazakhstan's potential in the tourism industry and noted that artificial intelligence can significantly improve the quality of services.
"AI technologies can be used to create digital assistants with translation and escort functions for foreign guests, as well as to analyze tourist flows and forecast demand," the professor emphasized.
Chinese 01.AI is a startup in the field of artificial intelligence founded by Li Kai-Fu, former head of Google in China. The company was created in June 2025 and quickly reached a valuation of $1 billion. The company's main product is the open artificial intelligence model Yi-34B, an analogue of the well-known ChatGPT.
Recall that in October last year, 01.AI already signed an agreement with Kazakhtelecom on a joint study of "AI opportunities in business and public services." Later it became known that their joint venture would become the operator of the National Artificial Intelligence Platform.
The day before, Kursiv wrote about how at a seminar dedicated to AI in Kazakhstan in Astana, the creation of a joint company with Chinese AI developer 01.AI – Q.AI – was announced. The new company was headed by former Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence Dmitry Mun.
