The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, has reached 38 people. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the latest data from local authorities, 210 evacuation centers have been opened in the prefecture, housing more than 9,200 people. 1,590 houses are without electricity, 46,800 houses are without water, and 8,700 houses are without gas.
3,400 buildings were damaged, including 181 completely destroyed. On Tuesday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 16 kilometers.
