Vice Minister of Education Shynar Akparova announced the changes that will take place in schools in the new academic year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In primary grades, there will be no block-based summative assessment (BZhB) and quarter-based summative assessment (TZhB). According to the vice minister, the priority now is not frequent assessment of the child, but creating conditions for deep understanding of the educational material and application of acquired knowledge in practice.
In senior grades, mandatory study of all core subjects will be legally established. In this regard, shortened model curricula will be abandoned, Akparova said at the August conference.
Additionally, in grades 5–9, special attention will be paid to in-depth study of fundamental subjects. In grades 8–9, the subject "Geography of Kazakhstan" is planned to be taught two hours per week.
Starting from the new academic year, mandatory courses "Fundamentals of the Constitution" will be introduced in grades 5–7, and "Law and Order" in grades 8–11. A unified standard for environmental education will be developed.
From September 1, all clubs, circles, and military-patriotic classes will be united under the single status "Zhas Aibyn". For project participants, incentive measures are provided for entering military service under contract and military educational institutions.
