New airports that are put into operation this year will begin serving passengers only next year. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Nurlibek Nalibayev at a government briefing. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the government's plan, the construction of Zaisan and Kendirli airports will be completed by the end of the year, and Katon-Karagai airport will be commissioned in February next year.
"But it should be noted here that after the construction is completed, we still need to process the documents and obtain licenses. Therefore, the new airports will begin serving passengers and aircraft in the second half of next year," Nalibayev said at the government briefing.
According to the deputy prime minister, all three new airports will be fully operational by the next tourist season.
It is worth noting that the president, in his address this year, instructed to start the construction of a new airport in Astana.
