Leader of Kazakhstan's women's wrestling team Zhamilya Bakbergenova won silver at an international ranking tournament in Budapest. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
She competed in the weight category up to 72 kg, with the competition held in a round-robin system.
At the start of the tournament, Bakbergenova defeated Kyrgyzstan's Kairgul Sharshebaeva, and then overcame India's Diksha Malik.
In the decisive bout for the gold medal, the Kazakhstani athlete faced Poland's Wiktoria Chołuj, but lost to her opponent and finished the tournament with a silver medal.
Ranking tournaments are among the key international events and allow athletes to earn points for the world ranking.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that freestyle wrestler Yedige Kassymbek won gold at a ranking tournament in Hungary, and Zeinep Bayanova won bronze.
