A man in Zhambyl Region has been convicted for arson. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Talas District Court heard a criminal case on the fact of deliberate destruction of someone else's property by arson. The court established that in April 2026, the convict was drinking alcohol with an acquaintance near a grocery store in the village of Koshek Batyr.
At that time, the victim's minor son began mocking them, and the angered convict started scolding the child. Soon the boy's father arrived, and a quarrel broke out between them. During the conflict, the convict threatened the villager: "I will burn your house."
That same day, he came to the house of the man he had quarreled with, poured fuel on 800 bales of hay stored in the barn, and set them on fire with a lighter. As a result, the victim suffered material damage in the amount of 1.4 million tenge.
The convict fully admitted his guilt and asked the court to impose a punishment not related to imprisonment. The victim forgave him and also asked not to imprison him. By the court's verdict, the man was found guilty under paragraph 1) of part 2 of Article 202 of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to 3 years of restricted freedom. The verdict has entered into legal force.
