In Zhambyl region, the parents of a two-year-old boy have reported that their son was subjected to violence at a state kindergarten. Police have launched a pre-trial investigation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the parents, on October 5 they picked up the child from kindergarten with signs of beatings. Initially, staff explained the incident as a fight between children. Later, the family was told that the teacher was separating the children and accidentally hit the boy.

The parents demanded to see CCTV footage but received the video only on October 8. According to the mother, the footage shows a kindergarten employee using force against her son. After viewing the recording, the family called the police.

The parents suspect that attempts were made to conceal the circumstances of the incident. They are also outraged that the kindergarten administration did not itself contact law enforcement.

"We are outraged that for several days we were not told the real circumstances of what happened. Why did the kindergarten administration not immediately report the incident to law enforcement, as required by law?" the parents say.

The police department of Zhambyl region confirmed that a pre-trial investigation is underway under Article 140 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Failure to fulfill duties for the upbringing of a minor."

"Currently, the necessary investigative actions are ongoing, aimed at a comprehensive, complete and objective establishment of all circumstances of the incident. Based on the results of the investigation, an appropriate procedural decision will be made," the police told the Kazinform editorial office.

The parents also question the actions of the kindergarten administration. In their opinion, there was an attempt to conceal information about the incident. The family notes that the video was provided to them only three days later.

Police state that all necessary measures are being taken within the investigation to establish all circumstances. A procedural decision will be made upon completion of the investigation.

The incident once again raises issues of child safety in kindergartens and timely notification of law enforcement agencies.
