A court in Zhambyl Region has ordered a horse owner to compensate a railway company for damages caused after the animal collided with a passenger train. The man will pay 531,000 tenge to the railway company. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The incident occurred in November 2025 on the Otar – Shu section. During the movement of a passenger train, a horse ran onto the railway tracks. The driver applied emergency braking and sounded the horn, but a collision could not be avoided.

As a result, the electric locomotive was damaged and sent for repair. The railway company estimated the cost of restoration work at 531,000 tenge.

During the investigation, the owner of the animal was identified. The court found that the man had previously been held administratively liable for violating livestock grazing rules near the railway.

After that, the carrier filed a lawsuit with the Shu District Court for compensation of material damage. The court concluded that the damage to the locomotive was caused by improper maintenance and grazing of the animal, and therefore granted the claim.

The horse owner was ordered to pay 531,000 tenge in damages and also to pay the state fee.

The court decision has not yet entered into legal force.
