President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the sidelines of the Kazakhstan–China investment forum, took part via video link in the ceremony launching a deep corn processing plant and gave start to the construction of an industrial park in Zhambyl region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The ceremony was attended by Akim of Zhambyl region Yerbol Karashukeyev.
“Today we are witnessing an important event for the region’s economy. In a short time, a modern production facility has been created here, which opens up new opportunities for the agro-industrial complex, the processing industry and our agricultural producers. This project clearly shows that large investments are coming to the region, new production facilities, jobs and points of economic growth are being created,” noted Yerbol Karashukeyev.
The launched plant became the first enterprise in Central Asia for the production of amino acids. About $1.5 billion of investments is planned to be attracted for the implementation of all three stages of the project. The creation of about 1,500 jobs is envisaged.
At the first stage, the enterprise will process 500 thousand tons of corn per year. After reaching full design capacity, the processing volume is planned to be increased to 3 million tons annually.
The enterprise specializes in the production of amino acids. Among the main products are isoleucine, leucine, valine, threonine and glutamine. Some of them are especially important for the human body. The enterprise’s products are in demand in the food and pharmaceutical industries, the biotechnology sector, as well as in the production of specialized nutrition and feed additives.
It is expected that 80% of finished products will be sent for export, 20% will be sold on the domestic market.
“Shengtai Biotech” is the first production complex of the Fufeng company built outside China. The operation of the enterprise requires significant volumes of raw materials. At the first stage, we plan to purchase about 500 thousand tons of corn. This will create a new and stable sales market for local agricultural producers. Therefore, we are interested in cooperation with farmers of the region and encourage them to increase corn acreage and supply products to the plant,” noted the head of SHENGTAI BIOTECH CO., LTD Wang Yandong.
According to the head of the region, the launch of the enterprise is of particular importance for the farmers of the region as well.
“It is important for us not only to increase production volumes, but also to form a full-fledged processing chain within the region. The plant will create sustainable demand for corn, provide agricultural producers with a stable sales market and allow the production of competitive products with high added value. Ultimately, all this should work for the development of the economy and improving the well-being of the region’s residents,” emphasized Yerbol Karashukeyev.
Zhambyl region continues systematic work to attract investments and create new production facilities. Today the region’s investment portfolio includes 116 projects with a total value of 5.6 trillion tenge. Their implementation envisages the creation of more than 20 thousand new jobs.
In the eight months of 2026, 621.4 billion tenge of investments were attracted to the region’s economy, which is 48.7% more compared to the same period last year.
This year it is planned to implement 47 investment projects with a total value of 471 billion tenge.
