The Border Service of the National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan prevented the illegal export of undeclared currency from the country. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Between June 30 and July 7, 38 such attempts were detected at checkpoints across the state border. As a result, undeclared currency totaling more than 636 million tenge was discovered.

In one particular case, at the "Kordai" automobile border control post of the NSC Department for Zhambyl Region, during an inspection of a foreign citizen's luggage, 350,000 US dollars (equivalent to 170,037,000 tenge) were found. Materials regarding this incident have been forwarded to the competent authorities for a procedural decision.

The NSC Border Service reminds that, according to Kazakhstani legislation, the export of cash exceeding the equivalent of 10,000 US dollars from the republic is prohibited.
