Police in the Zhambyl region have identified dozens of violators of the ban on wearing clothing that completely covers the face since the beginning of the year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Kazakhstan has introduced a legislative ban on wearing clothing that prevents the identification of a person's face, including the niqab. Therefore, police in the Zhambyl region have launched mass raids to enforce compliance with the law and conduct explanatory work among residents.
Shopping centers, markets, public service centers, and other public places are being thoroughly checked.
"As a result of the work carried out since the beginning of the year, about 20 facts of violation of these requirements have been identified in the region. Measures have been taken against violators in accordance with current legislation," the department said.
According to Article 434-3 of the Administrative Code, a warning is issued for the first violation, and a fine of 10 MCI (43,250 tenge) is imposed for a repeated violation within a year.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstani citizens are being massively fined for covering their faces in public places.
