A large cannabis field has been destroyed in the Zhambyl region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In an area of the region near a sandy zone, Indian cannabis was found being cultivated, equipped with autonomous power supply and an irrigation system. Aerial reconnaissance was conducted to detect the hidden field.
"As a result of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and coordinated actions of operational officers, the suspect was detained while committing the crime," the statement said. He turned out to be a 40-year-old resident of Taraz, previously convicted multiple times.
He intended to process plants containing narcotic substances and transport them to other regions for sale at wholesale prices. During the search, 50 cannabis bushes over two meters tall with a total weight of 438 kg, packaging materials and special agro-technical equipment were seized. Operational officers also found a Makarov pistol with ammunition and an erased serial number.
A 12-gauge Baikal shotgun, ammunition for it, and an SUV used for transporting drugs were also seized. A criminal case has been opened against the suspect.
The man admitted guilt and was placed in a temporary detention isolator.
