The Borandy railway station in the Zhualy district of the Zhambyl region has reopened after major repairs. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The facility was renovated as part of a station modernization program previously commissioned by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Akim of Zhambyl region Altai Ali, veterans and employees of the railway industry.
During the renovation, the station's utility networks were completely replaced, interior and exterior finishes were updated, and waiting rooms and passenger service areas were put in order.
Special attention was paid to creating a barrier-free environment. Special waiting areas and necessary conditions for comfortable stay were equipped for people with disabilities and passengers with children.
"I am confident that the station will serve residents of the district and passengers for many years, providing them with comfortable and safe conditions. The implementation of such projects contributes to improving the quality of services and strengthening the transport potential of the region," noted Altai Ali.
According to the akimat, the Borandy station serves an average of 54 passengers per day. Nine employees work here per shift. The facility receives passengers of both suburban and long-distance trains.
Regional authorities also continue the modernization of other railway stations in the region. Work is being carried out in stages at the Turksib, Taraz, Shu and Otar stations. They are aimed at improving the quality of passenger transportation and developing the transport and logistics infrastructure of the region.
