A criminal group engaged in extortion from heavy truck drivers has been detained in the Zhambyl region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Polisia.kz, the suspects are accused of systematically extorting money from drivers of heavy trucks, passenger vehicles, cars and transit vehicles passing through a border checkpoint in the region.
During the investigation, 27 search operations were conducted. Cold weapons, communication devices, a large amount of money, as well as vehicles were seized.
"The investigation is being conducted into the fact of extortion committed by a group of persons," the statement says.
Currently, all circumstances of the illegal actions, the role of each participant, as well as possible additional episodes are being established.
