In the Zhambyl region, after a prosecutor's inspection, dozens of civil servants regained the right to longer vacations and health benefits. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

It was found that the akimat of T. Ryskulov district and its subordinate institutions granted 58 employees only 24 calendar days of leave and did not pay the required health allowance.

"This contradicts the requirements of labor legislation. According to Article 139 of the Labor Code, civil servants are entitled to an annual paid leave of 30 calendar days and a health allowance," explained the press service of the supervisory authority.

After the prosecutor's intervention, the employees' payments for previous years were recalculated. As a result, their annual leave was extended to 30 calendar days, and they received health benefits totaling 9.8 million tenge.

According to the agency, 15 employees have already exercised their right to 30-day leave with health benefits this year.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that amendments to the Labor Code came into force in Kazakhstan, strengthening worker protection. Now, if an employee is assigned to perform the duties of a colleague on leave or sick leave, the employer is obliged to pay extra for this work.
