In the Zhambyl region, the parents of 42-year-old Serik Kobesov blocked access to his grave to prevent an exhumation. A repeat examination of the body was sought by the widow of the deceased. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Serik Kobesov died in October last year during a hunt in the Baizak district, where he had gone with two relatives. Police investigated the incident under the article "Causing death by negligence." A few months later, the case was closed, and the shooter — the husband of the deceased's sister — was released under an amnesty. Serik's parents did not object to that decision at the time.

According to the father of the deceased, the shot occurred accidentally when a car door hit the butt of the gun.

"The car was standing on a slope, and when exiting, the door slammed and hit the butt, and at that moment there was an explosion, oh, a shot occurred. And as a result, the spleen and lungs were damaged. And blood entered the lung, and he suffocated. Well, he died instantly. We are very much against an exhumation being done. So that he may lie freely even in that life," said the father of the deceased, Almurat Kobesov.

The exhumation was sought by Serik's wife. The parents of the deceased link her actions to a property dispute. According to their version, after transferring part of the property, the widow demanded that another apartment be re-registered in her name.

"We gave her the car, we gave her two apartments in Almaty. The older son lives and studies there, the younger one has lived with me since he was three, goes to school here. She agreed. And three days later she began extorting an apartment in Taraz. She demanded it be re-registered in her name. She threatened that otherwise she would reopen the case – allegedly a premeditated murder had occurred," said the mother of the deceased, Minash Smagambetova.

The widow, in turn, believes that the circumstances of her husband's death require additional investigation. According to her, before the tragedy, the family had discussed dividing the business, and Serik wanted to receive his share.

Maria Kobesova also claims that during investigative actions at the site of her husband's death, the car caught fire, in which she herself, the gun, and other material evidence were located. The woman suspects that someone tried to get rid of her.

"If it had been an accident, this wouldn't be happening now. The examination of the corpse would have been legally conducted. You understand, moreover, not a single examination was conducted, there was an explosion during the situational examination. All the evidence was destroyed, the car was blown up, I barely survived. And all of this is greed, they had a business with the father," said the widow of the deceased, Maria Kobesova.

The police department of the Zhambyl region confirmed that the investigation has been resumed. The exhumation was ordered as part of additional investigative actions based on the statement of the injured party.

"In the case of causing death by negligence, the investigation continues. Based on the statement of the injured party, additional investigative actions are being carried out, including the exhumation of the body," said the head of the press service of the Police Department of the Zhambyl region, Gulsara Mukhtarkulova.

The exhumation has not yet been carried out. Serik Kobesov's parents blocked the passages to the grave, where law enforcement officers arrived with equipment and shovels. They also challenged the exhumation and are awaiting a repeat court decision.

According to KTK, cases of destruction of evidence and distortion of expertise are being investigated in parallel.
