Six memorandums of cooperation totaling 360 million tenge were signed in the Zhambyl region as part of the Merke Business Forum. The funds will be directed to social projects and infrastructure development in the district. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The forum was held in the Merke district with the participation of the akim of the Zhambyl region, Yerbol Karashukeyev, business representatives, public figures, and residents. Participants discussed investments, entrepreneurship development, and socio-economic projects in the region.

The regional akim stated that the region is strengthening its position in attracting investments. According to his data, over the past three years, 764.5 billion tenge has been attracted to the region's economy, placing the Zhambyl region third in the country in this indicator. The share of private investments reached 96.1%.

He also reported that the volume of foreign direct investment increased from $184 million to $289.7 million.

In the first four months of the current year, four investment projects worth 143 billion tenge were launched in the region, creating 920 jobs. By the end of the year, it is planned to implement another 47 projects worth 458.8 billion tenge, which should provide more than 2,700 jobs.

Separately, the forum presented an initiative to build two colleges worth 6 billion tenge. One will be medical, the other construction. Each is designed for 1,000 students.

According to project representatives, the new educational institutions should strengthen personnel training for the region.

The event also honored residents and participants who contributed to the district's development. Professor Namazaly Omashev gave a speech, noting positive changes in the appearance of settlements and emphasizing the role of public unity.

At the end of the forum, a photo album "Merke" was presented, dedicated to the district's history, nature, tourism, and cultural heritage.
