The planned visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Budapest and a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar, scheduled for Monday, have been postponed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Hungarian portal HVG, the meeting was supposed to take place on Monday evening, but due to the lack of a final agreement, a decision was made to postpone the visit. The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the publication's inquiry, stated that the venue and time of the meeting are still being discussed, and no final agreement has been reached regarding a specific date for Monday.

The portal reports that the main topic of the negotiations was to be bilateral relations between Hungary and Ukraine. This is related to Magyar's recent statements. He noted that after expert-level talks, some progress had been made in restoring the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia. In response, Hungary agreed not to oppose the start of Ukraine's EU accession negotiations.

Hungary's previous government repeatedly stated that Kyiv was to blame for the deterioration of relations between the two countries. Budapest also declared that it would not support any steps regarding Ukraine's entry into the European Union until the rights of the Hungarian national community in Transcarpathia, especially the right to education in their native language, are fully restored.
