Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky said he agreed to meet US President Donald Trump in New York during a phone call. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"I just spoke with President Trump. It was an important conversation, we managed to discuss many issues. We agreed on a meeting in New York, this meeting could change a lot. There is diplomatic momentum," Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.
He also said there are a number of proposals on preventing an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, as well as on energy and food security.
Meanwhile, the head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, Rustem Umerov, said the meeting between Trump and Zelensky could take place on Tuesday, according to the Axios portal.
"In recent days he (Umerov — ed.) worked with White House representatives on organizing the meeting between Trump and Zelensky. The meeting is planned for Tuesday," the portal wrote, citing Umerov's comment.
The 81st session of the UN General Assembly officially opened in New York on September 8. High-level week-long events traditionally take place within the framework of the General Assembly. General debates will be held from September 22 to 26, as well as on September 28.
