Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in France that he wants to hold negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the start of winter, The Guardian reports. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing The Guardian.

Zelensky cited the severe consequences of past winter months for Ukraine as the main reason for the hurry and warned that the coming winter would also be difficult for Russia itself. The head of state emphasized that dialogue is necessary to prevent a new round of humanitarian and energy crisis.

"It was a terrible winter for us, of course, we don't want to experience the same winter... and Russia must know that we had a terrible winter, and they will also have a difficult winter this year," the Ukrainian president said.

According to him, the meeting should be organized in Switzerland, Turkey, the United States, or one of the Middle Eastern countries.

Earlier, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Zelensky would be welcomed in Moscow if he is ready for a serious conversation.

Previously, Kursiv reported that Zelensky, in an open letter to Putin, proposed starting a direct bilateral dialogue to end the conflict. Later, information emerged that Putin said he did not yet see the point in a meeting.

In turn, Trump supported the meeting between Putin and Zelensky and spoke of possible compromises.
