Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko to dismantle relay towers that, according to him, are used to adjust Russian drone strikes on Ukrainian territory. Zelensky made this statement at a joint press conference with the President of Honduras. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ukrainian leader, in the first days of the war, Russia launched missiles at Ukraine from Belarusian territory.
"When the full-scale war began, we were attacked by missiles that killed children and adults. And Alexander Lukashenko knows this. A large number of missiles flew from Belarus. Then he called, apologized, and said he did not control it. I do not believe this, but he has already spoken about it," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president also stated that Russia continues to drag Belarus into the war.
"On his towers there are relay stations. On his territory along two regions bordering Ukraine, there is equipment that adjusts fire on our people. Let him remove this equipment. I think a week will be enough for him to do this. Because now every day because of this our civilians are dying, children are being injured. If he does not do it, we will," Zelensky declared.
Furthermore, the head of state called on Minsk to stop supplying petroleum products to the Russian army.
"Belarus today is one of the main suppliers for the Russian army. Can this be stopped? I am sure it is within his power. And he is the one who controls it," the Ukrainian president noted.
Speaking about the prospects of ending the war, Zelensky said he does not yet see Russian President Vladimir Putin's readiness for negotiations.
"No one sees that Putin wants to sit down at the negotiating table and end the war through dialogue. There is a feeling that even the people around him understand that he cannot occupy Ukraine and cannot win this war," Zelensky noted.
According to him, new sanctions against Russia are needed to end the war. He also reported that US President Donald Trump, according to him, intends to return to sanctions policy and continue supporting Ukraine.
In addition, Zelensky expressed confidence that negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow will resume. According to him, European partners advocate for negotiations with US participation, and Ukraine is ready for a bilateral meeting with Russia provided international partners are present, since issues of security guarantees and European integration require the participation of allies.
