In Kokshetau, a pensioner lost over 3 million tenge after seeking help to install a banking app. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

A city resident contacted the police, reporting that money had been stolen from his bank account. The pensioner had been unable to receive his pension for several months because he had a push-button phone that did not support mobile banking. Therefore, he went to a service center to ask for help installing the banking app.

The suspect gained the pensioner's trust and accessed his mobile banking. After seeing the funds in the deposit account, he transferred part of the money to third-party accounts and also took out a loan in the victim's name, spending the money for personal needs. The pensioner only became aware of the situation when he visited a bank branch. Bank employees informed him that there were no funds in his account and advised him to contact law enforcement.

An investigation is underway. Earlier, in Aktobe, a pensioner sold his apartment and handed over the money to scammers.
