The new BMW iX3, recently officially launched in Kazakhstan, received a maximum five stars in tests under the updated Euro NCAP methodology. However, the Chinese Zeekr 7GT became the best in total points. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Both models were the first to undergo crash tests under the new, stricter rules of the European organization.
Previously, the final rating was formed by familiar categories, but now the tests are divided into four large blocks:
- 01Adult occupant protection
- 02Child protection
- 03Pedestrian protection
- 04Safety assist
According to the test results, both electric vehicles received a maximum five stars.
Despite the same rating, the Chinese liftback scored more points in almost all categories.
According to Euro NCAP, Zeekr's electronic assistants and automatic emergency braking systems worked better. In addition, when opening the door, the car warns passengers if a cyclist is approaching from behind, and also reminds about a child left in the cabin.
At the same time, experts criticized the model for having too many control functions hidden in the touch screen.
BMW received high marks for its abundance of physical buttons, driver attention monitoring system, and traffic sign recognition. During tests in Italy, France, Germany and Austria, the electronics correctly identified speed limits in most cases.
Experts also noted that after the crash tests, the iX3 doors could be opened both from inside and outside, and the high-voltage battery automatically disconnected after impact.
In June 2026, BMW launched the new iX3 on the Kazakhstan market. The electric crossover is built on the Neue Klasse platform and costs from 50.3 million tenge.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported that BMW is preparing a body-on-frame SUV that will challenge the Geländewagen.
