The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been operating without external electricity for more than a week. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), officially confirmed this situation. According to him, the plant has been without external power supply for more than a week.
"Currently, the plant is using emergency diesel generators to obtain the electricity needed to perform the main functions of nuclear safety and protection," Grossi noted.
His words were published on the official account of the IAEA on the X social network. In this regard, Grossi emphasized the importance of providing the Zaporizhzhia NPP with a sufficient amount of diesel fuel.
This situation raises concerns at the international level regarding the safety of the nuclear power plant. IAEA specialists continue to monitor the state of nuclear safety at the plant.
