UNESCO congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on National Dombra Day. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The art of playing the dombra is inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Nayef Al-Fayez, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture, said: "This unique musical tradition connects people with their history, identity, and with each other. UNESCO highly appreciates the special attitude towards the dombra in Kazakhstan and welcomes the efforts aimed at preserving and transmitting this priceless heritage from generation to generation."
It is worth noting that two years ago, a jubilee cultural event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of this historic event was organized at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
