Xiaomi has unveiled its new foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The model occupies an intermediate format between compact clamshells and large book-style foldables, and is powered by the new proprietary XRING O3 processor. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Dual OLED Displays

The Xiaomi 18 Fold features two OLED displays. When folded, it offers a compact 5.38-inch screen, which expands to 7.58 inches when opened. Both support a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations. The inner display reaches 4000 nits of brightness, ensuring good visibility even in direct sunlight.

Both screens have an aspect ratio of about 2:1. Xiaomi notes that this makes the keyboard on the unfolded phone wider than on typical devices with a 6.9-inch display.

Dimensions and Design

When unfolded, the phone is just half a centimeter thick; folded, it is slightly over a centimeter. The device weighs 219 grams, roughly the weight of a standard chocolate bar. The body features a flat frame and an oval camera module. The smartphone will be available in black, red, and warm gold with white.

XRING O3 Processor

Performance is driven by the new XRING O3 chip. Xiaomi claims the processor is 60% more powerful than the previous generation, while the GPU, responsible for gaming and image processing, delivers an 85% performance boost. Under light loads, the chip consumes 25% less energy, potentially extending battery life.

Camera and Battery

The main camera sports a 200MP sensor. The phone also includes a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom for distant subjects and a 50MP ultra-wide camera for broader shots.

The 6000mAh battery supports 67W wired and 50W wireless charging. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and UWB. The device runs HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.

Special Edition

Xiaomi will separately release a Ceramic Special Edition, featuring a ceramic back panel instead of the standard finish. Limited to just 1,500 units, this version will come with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Availability

For now, the Xiaomi 18 Fold is only available in the Chinese market. The company has not yet announced an official launch in Kazakhstan or other countries outside China.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that Xiaomi introduced a new magnetic power bank, the Ultra Thin. Its key feature is a thickness of just 6mm and a weight under 100 grams, making it nearly unnoticeable in hand and easy to attach to a smartphone.
