In the early hours of October 4, a conflict occurred at a cafe in Ust-Kamenogorsk, after which a 40-year-old police officer died. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Footage from the scene was published by the Nalyqstan Telegram channel. According to its information, the man was at the establishment off duty. He reprimanded a visitor who was behaving inappropriately. In response, the latter caught up with him on the street and kicked him in the face.
The incident was initially reported by local public pages. At the same time, residents of Ust-Kamenogorsk noticed vehicle checks that police conducted in the city on October 4. Cars were stopped, including on the Ulba Bridge, and drivers' documents were checked. On social media, people suggested that law enforcement might have been searching for a participant in the conflict.
Later, the East Kazakhstan Region Police Department confirmed the death of its officer and reported the detention of a suspect.
"A criminal case has been opened into the incident. The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility," police said.
The department clarified that the investigation is ongoing, so other details are not being disclosed in the interests of the investigation.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote about the murder of 37-year-old senior operative officer Aslan Alserov, whose charred body was found in the mountains of the Almaty region. Several people were detained in the case, including the wife and son of the murdered police officer.
