In Ukraine, the Starlink satellite communications system and its military version Starshield have resumed operation at speeds above 161 km/h. This was reported by the Ukrainian portal Novosti.Live, citing sources in the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, according to RIA Novosti. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"According to data as of the morning of October 24, the defense forces (Armed Forces of Ukraine) recorded the activation of the communications system while moving at speeds above 161 km/h," the outlet said in a message published on its Telegram channel.
At the same time, the Ukrainian military continues to test the system's operation at even higher speeds. However, according to the outlet, there is no talk yet of fully lifting the existing restrictions.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed American officials, reported that U.S. President Donald Trump had asked entrepreneur Elon Musk to lift restrictions imposed on the Starlink military communications system in Ukraine. However, Vladimir Zelensky's communications adviser Dmytro Lytvyn stated that the restrictions remain in force.
On October 19, Zelensky said that restrictions had been placed on the operation of Starlink terminals. According to him, communications were interrupted in various frontline areas when vehicles moved at speeds of 130–161 km/h.
