A teenager who sent a false report about an explosive device planted in one of the buildings in Astana has been detained in Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Polisia.kz, on August 26 in the city of Sumy, as a result of cooperation between Kazakhstan's Interior Ministry and Ukraine's cyber police, a minor was detained on suspicion of sending a knowingly false report that an explosive device had been planted in one of the shopping and entertainment centers in Astana.
Items seized during the search
During the search, mobile phones, a tablet, a laptop, a system unit and a bank card were seized.
"From the electronic devices, the account used, the text of the sent message and other digital evidence were identified," the statement said.
Investigation underway
Currently, an analysis of the seized equipment is being carried out. Possible accomplices are being identified, and whether the detained person was involved in other similar incidents is being checked.
Cooperation with Ukraine's competent authorities continues on the issue of taking further procedural decisions.
Legal liability
The Interior Ministry reminded that the law provides for liability for false reports about bombing a facility, committing terrorism, taking hostages and other threats to security.
Earlier it became known that schoolchildren who reported an explosive device at a school were detained in Almaty.
