Ukraine has faced a serious budget deficit problem not seen since 2022. This was stated by the country's Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko in an interview with Euronews. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"We haven't had such a situation since 2022... Now we have come too close to the situation of 2022," Marchenko said.
According to Euronews, if financial support from Western countries is not available, Ukraine may be forced to cut non-military spending.
Marchenko called on ministers of European countries to seek new ways to solve this problem, as Kyiv is preparing for another difficult winter.
"We are already seeing problems with a lack of funds and we predict that there will be a certain deficit in the budget. We may postpone some payments not related to military spending," the Ukrainian Finance Minister said.
And Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi on September 1 announced that a regime of strict savings of budget funds not related to defense needs would be introduced.
