Ukraine has requested international aid from NATO in the form of equipment for demining and disposal of explosives of a "humanitarian" nature, including remote detonation systems, robotic systems, and sapper equipment. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Some of the requested equipment has dual-use purposes and can be used not only for demining and disposal but also for other explosive operations, including the installation of explosive devices.
"The State Emergency Service of Ukraine sent the following request to NATO for international assistance to eliminate consequences affecting the civilian population of Ukraine... namely, expanding capabilities for humanitarian demining and assistance in transporting explosives," the document says.
The request dated August 11 was distributed by NATO's Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) to member and partner countries. States were offered to provide the requested equipment in full or in part.
The list includes 1,700 tactical ballistic goggles, 700 hearing protection kits, 1,700 ballistic belts and small bags of the same volume, 200 light sapper suits, and 100 heavy protective suits for disposal of explosive devices.
