US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff reported positive outcomes from peace talks in Moscow and Kyiv. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Significant progress has been made, including agreeing on the timing of additional trilateral talks," he wrote on social media. He stated that Donald Trump is making every effort to achieve a long-term and lasting peace.
A day earlier, Witkoff said he had heard new ideas on a settlement in Ukraine during his visit to Russia. He expressed hope that the constructive work of recent days would be the beginning of a rapprochement between the parties to the conflict.
The second member of the US delegation, Jared Kushner, also said that Washington is working on laying the groundwork for a "peace package." On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin received Witkoff and Kushner in the Kremlin. This was the eighth visit of Washington representatives to Russia.
According to presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the president gave them a clear and comprehensive assessment of the situation in the special military operation zone, and they promised to adhere to it in dialogue with Kyiv. The next day they arrived in the Ukrainian capital.
According to the Kremlin, Putin ordered a three-day ceasefire on Kyiv to prepare for and conduct these contacts. The talks took place in two rounds, with the second round joined by national security advisers from the UK, Germany, and France.
