US President Donald Trump confirmed in an interview with the Financial Times that his special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will visit Ukraine for the first time in the coming days. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Earlier, American journalist Laura Loomer, known for her controversies, stated that Witkoff and Kushner would travel to Kyiv in the coming weeks. Trump told the Financial Times that his main focus is on ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
Additionally, he stated that his two special envoys – Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff – will visit Ukraine for the first time in the coming days, the newspaper wrote.
Trump also said that the US has not made a concrete decision on granting a license for the production of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles for Kyiv. He noted that Washington is "considering" the issue.
"This (Patriot system – Sputnik) is a very special weapon, so... we have to be somewhat careful about who we give the license to. In general, we don't just hand out licenses for such equipment left and right," the newspaper quoted Trump as saying.
This statement came just two days after a meeting at the White House. Following that meeting, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the US president had agreed to provide Kyiv with technologies.
