Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers and veterinarians translocated 15 Nubian giraffes from Murchison Falls National Park to Ajai Wildlife Reserve on July 21-22, 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The relocation was prompted by oil drilling activities in the park. The giraffes were sedated, their eyes covered with cloth, and loaded onto trucks. They were transported to Ajai Wildlife Reserve near Arua in northwestern Uganda. The move aims to ensure the safety of the giraffes.
