Volkswagen has begun deliveries of its new ID. Aura T6 electric crossover in China. The model has a range of up to 660 km on the CLTC cycle, a rear electric motor producing 228 hp and a starting price of about 8.7 mln tenge at the exchange rate at the time of writing. The top version is priced at about 11.2 mln tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Sales start in Guangzhou
Sales of the ID. Aura T6 started on September 20 in Guangzhou. The crossover is available in four trim levels.
The model became one of the first cars on the CEA architecture, which Volkswagen developed together with Xpeng.
Dimensions and aerodynamics
The Volkswagen ID. Aura T6 is 4.81 m long, 1.88 m wide and 1.65 m tall. The wheelbase is 2.836 m, and the drag coefficient is 0.245 Cd. Both 19- and 20-inch wheels are available for the crossover.
Power and range
The electric motor is mounted on the rear axle and produces 170 kW, or 228 hp. Buyers are offered batteries of 59.9 and 77.5 kWh. Depending on the version, the range is 540-660 km on CLTC and 446-541 km on WLTP.
Interior equipment
Despite its size, the ID. Aura T6 is designed for only five people. The trunk volume is 576 liters. A 10.25-inch screen is installed in front of the driver, while the central multimedia display has a diagonal of 15.6 inches. A 25.8-inch augmented reality projection display is also claimed.
The multimedia system runs on a 4-nm chip with performance of up to 20 TOPS and supports Apple CarPlay, HiCar and CarLink. In addition, the crossover received a driver assistance system based on LiDAR and the Horizon Robotics Journey 6H chip with computing power of 420 TOPS. It supports Highway NOA and Urban Pilot functions.
Performance and charging
The base version accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. According to Volkswagen, the ID. Aura T6 battery can be charged in 22 minutes.
Thus, the new Volkswagen electric crossover in China costs from 129,000 yuan, or about 8.7 mln tenge, and is aimed at competing with electric cars from Xpeng, Leapmotor and GAC Aion.
