After the earthquake in the East Kazakhstan region, specialists from Kazselezashchita inspected riverbeds, hydraulic structures, as well as landslide-prone and mudflow-prone areas. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
In addition, specialists visually inspected life support facilities for possible damage. As a result of the inspection, no violations were found, all facilities are operating normally.
There is no information about destruction or casualties. The Ministry of Emergency Situations called the situation in the region stable.
Almas Baizhumanov, head of the civil defense department of the Emergency Situations Department of East Kazakhstan, said that the earthquake was recorded on August 24 at 19:31 Astana time.
"According to calculated data, the intensity of the earthquake in the village of Ulken-Naryn was 2 points. We ask the population to remain calm," Baizhumanov said.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on the evening of August 24, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 was felt in the East Kazakhstan region. The epicenter was located approximately 875 km northeast of Almaty, the focal depth was 15 km. In the village of Ulken-Naryn, located 11 km from the epicenter, the calculated intensity reached 2 points.
Assessment of earthquake consequences
