A natural fire is being extinguished in the Markakol forestry area in the East Kazakhstan region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, dry grass and shrubs are burning in a hard-to-reach area.

About 85 people and 10 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. Forestry protection workers, units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Kazavialesookhrana are working on site.

The situation is monitored from the air by two Kazaviaspas helicopters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. One of the aircraft is also used to deliver firefighters to the fire site.

"Extinguishing work continues. The situation is under control of the involved services," the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that over the past day, September 5, three forest fires were registered in Kazakhstan - in Akmola, Almaty and North Kazakhstan regions.
