In the East Kazakhstan region, police have launched a pre-trial investigation after a person died at a site where road works were being carried out. The incident occurred near the village of Targyn, reports YK.kz. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened on a section of the road under repair involving working machinery. As a result, one person died.
The police department of the East Kazakhstan region confirmed the fact of the incident. A criminal case is being investigated under Part 2 of Article 277 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan — violation of safety rules during mining or construction works, resulting in the death of a person through negligence.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to six years.
"Currently, necessary investigative actions are being carried out. Other information, in accordance with the requirements of Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is not subject to disclosure," the press service of the DP of the East Kazakhstan region reported.
