In the village of Kasym Kaysenova, Ulan district, East Kazakhstan region, a police officer pulled two workers out of a sewer manhole after they lost consciousness during pipe cleaning. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing the East Kazakhstan Regional Police Department.
The incident occurred on August 20 at approximately 14:30 near house No. 11. Two employees of the Municipal State Enterprise "Molodezhny", born in 1985, were cleaning sewer pipes.
During the work, one of the men descended into the manhole and lost consciousness. The second worker tried to help his colleague, but also lost consciousness after descending.
The incident was noticed by Aset Nagashbayev, a forensic expert of Ulan district. Hearing cries near the manhole, he reported the incident to the local district inspector.
Nurdaulet Tetepov arrived at the scene. The police officer secured a rope and descended into the manhole, then helped the first worker to the surface, followed by the second.
Both men were handed over to the arriving ambulance crew. The police did not provide information about their condition.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstan plans to implement 45 sewerage treatment projects worth over 800 billion tenge. The average wear of such facilities exceeds 65%, and most of them were built more than 50 years ago. As part of modernization, it is also planned to reconstruct about 1.9 thousand km of water supply and sewerage networks.
