Victorian Liberals have announced plans for a new appeals court to ensure tougher sentences. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing The Guardian.

Debate over One Nation's policies

One Nation MP David Farley has rejected claims from Liberal Andrew Hastie that his party has no serious policies, just "thought bubbles".

Appearing on ABC's Insiders this morning, the member for Farrer said: "Those policies are there … There's a powerful amount of work goes on it."

Farley also suggested the minor party's net migration target is closer to 230,000 in order to include backpackers, Pacific workers, and more skilled workers.

He said One Nation's net overseas migration (Nom) target is 130,000 plus a minimum of about 100,000 workers.

"We're focusing on the Nom in its true form, and then we've got these programs that have been available now for over a decade that drive our economy ... the raw number is not too different, but the reality is, where do we need them? We don't need them in the great urban metroplex. We need them out to be productive, working in agriculture, engineering, mining, etc."

Before being elected, Farley said Australia's net overseas migration of 306,000 last year was "probably not" too many. The party's leader, Pauline Hanson, said she had a conversation with him about the comments.

Plan for new appeals court

The Victorian Liberals' proposal aims to toughen sentences in criminal cases. By creating a new court, they seek to ensure harsher penalties for offenders.

This initiative comes amid growing public concern over safety issues. According to experts, such changes could affect the efficiency of the judicial system.

Details of the plan have not yet been fully disclosed, but preliminary reports suggest the new court could expedite criminal cases and increase the severity of sentences.

Critics question the constitutional basis of this proposal and argue it could threaten judicial independence. However, Liberals maintain that this measure will help strengthen public safety.

Currently, Victoria is experiencing a rise in crime rates, causing concern among voters. The idea of creating a new appeals court is aimed at addressing this issue.

This Liberal initiative may also gain support from other political parties, as the issue of ensuring security is common to all.

However, some experts believe that instead of creating a new court, it would be more effective to reform the existing judicial system. They argue that an additional court instance would place extra burden on the budget.

This proposal by Victorian Liberals could become a significant topic in the upcoming election campaign. They hope to satisfy voters' demand for safety.

A concrete decision on establishing the new appeals court has not yet been made, but work in this direction is underway. In due course, the full version of this plan will be published.

There are various opinions in society regarding this initiative. Some consider it a necessary measure, while others criticize it as interference in the judicial system.

Nevertheless, Liberals express their readiness to implement their proposal. According to them, it will be an important step in strengthening public safety.

This event is becoming one of the significant developments in Australia's political life. The whole country is watching its progress.
