Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin stated that food prices will decrease during the summer season. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Speaking at a government meeting, Zhumangarin noted that the growth of food prices has slowed this year. According to him, prices are expected to drop in summer due to seasonal factors.
"On the contrary, they will drop. Prices always fall in summer," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He also said that the government is taking measures to curb inflation and ensure food security. In particular, work is underway to stabilize prices for socially significant food products.
According to Zhumangarin, in the first five months of this year, food price growth amounted to 5.5%, which is 2.5 percentage points lower than in the same period last year.
The Deputy Prime Minister predicted a significant decrease in prices for vegetables and fruits during the summer season. According to him, this is due to the abundance of domestic products.
In addition, he noted that prices for meat and dairy products will also stabilize. However, prices for bread and bakery products will depend on world grain prices.
The government said it will conduct round-the-clock monitoring to control food prices. Appropriate measures will be taken to prevent unjustified price increases.
Zhumangarin assured the public that food prices will drop in summer and urged them not to worry.
